The Incomparable King Khan- Shahrukh Khan

Oct 23, 2014 0

What can one say about the charismatic King of Bollywood that hasn’t been said before? Millions of adoring fans surround him cheering and screaming his name every time he steps out for an event. Whether you are a fan or not, he is undeniably the most recognized face from Bollywood in the world and that is an achievement in itself.

He was born on 2nd November, 1965 in New Dehli under the Scorpio zodiac sign. He is Pathan from his father’s side and Hyderabadi from his mother’s side. He has a fear of horses and struggles to overcome it. His favorite phrase is “Let’s do it!” Newsweek named him one of the 50 most powerful people in the world. He loves chicken and his favorite flavor is orange. He enjoys drinking Pepsi and watching the Discovery Channel. He is greatly inspired by his favorite actor, Dilip Kumar. Shahrukh Khan is a huge fan of the Black Eyed Peas and loves eating out at China White in Mumbai, Nobu in London, Buddha Bar in New York and Kittichai in Soho. His favorite film is Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993) and he loves reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Admas. He is proficient in cricket, hockey, soccer and was a brilliant student at school but he disliked Hindi as a subject. Discourtesy for no reason upsets him more than anything. He fell in love with his now wife Gauri Khan and had his son Aryan and daughter Suhana.

He started off from humble beginnings in the TV serial, Fauji (1988), which was majorly popular because the audience was captivated by this amazing screen presence and superb acting skills. His parents’ demise saw him move to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood. His first film Deewana (1992) was a super hit for which he received the Fimfare Best Debut Actor Award. From then on his hard work and patience paid off with a constant series of successes for him. Even the critics praised his performance in Baazigar and Darr where he had a negative role. He skyrocketed to fame with the unforgettable Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995).

He had a few setbacks with films like Dil Se, Paheli and others but still people appreciated his unconventional roles in such films and it did nothing to harm his career. Dreamz Unlimited was created by him for production in 1999.He starred in and produced films likePhirBhiDilHai Hindustani (2000), Asoka(2001) and ChalteChalte(2003).

People thoroughly enjoyed his work with Yash Chopra and Karan Johar in his most loved films like Dil To PagalHai (1997), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Mohabbatein (2000), KabhiKhushiKabhieGham (2001), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Veer-Zaara (2004) and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006). His production company Red Chillies Entertainment made his films Main Hoon Na (2004), Paheli (2005), Om Shanti Om (2007) and Billu (2009).

The remake of popular film Don (2006) was a great success and lead to the creation of its sequel later. The India- Pakistan sports rivalry and negative attitudes towards women sports was explored in Chak de India (2007) that captured the audience’s interest. Rab ne Bana di Jodi (2008) showed a very different side of King Khan that left fans begging for more. My Name is Khan (2010) was very thought provoking and approached the sensitive subject of terrorism and Islam that was handled well by Karan Johar and approved by audiences both in India and internationally. His first film with screen siren Katrina Kaif and reunited costar Anushka Sharma, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), was a success while Chennai Express (2013) was very popular as well among his fans.

He also received Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honour and the Government of France has awarded him both the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the Légiond’honneur. He accepted8 Filmfare Best Actor Awards, 1 Filmfare Best Villian. His statue at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, London is a popular attraction.

Another year goes by for Parineeti Chopra

Oct 23, 2014 0

Make a list of young Bollywood actresses and one will just not fit into the conventional description because just like her weird girl character in Hasee TouPhasee, she has a style all her own and she sticks to it. Often criticized by the growing number of people who believe in the “stick figure” image being the perfect form for an actress, Parineeti Chopra just refuses to be twisted into other people’s ideals.

The bubbly head strong actress celebrated her birthday on 22 October with her close friends and family in a sweet private affair owing to her brother’s illness. She was working on a song for the Ranveer Singh, Ali Zafar, Govinda starrer, Kill Dil, due to release soon. Even on her birthday she was working but wished to pack up early for the occasion. She confesses that she adores birthday celebrations and had something special in mind this year. She created her Instagram account on her birthday with the first photo being a collage of her fans’ cool selfies.

She has been an active member of the Bollywood fraternity since her debut in a small but key role in the Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma starrer, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, where she played the passionate loud mouthed Punjabi girl who loses her heart to the trickster Ricky played by Ranveer Singh. Her courage to take on different roles and the ability to do them justice has grabbed the attention of casting crews and critics alike. She continues to charm her way into people’s hearts with her magnetic screen presence, twinkling eyes and lovely smile.

Guess Who Amitabh Bachchan Interviewed in Dubai

Jun 27, 2014 0

In Dubai to promote his new movie Bhootnath Returns, Amitabh Bachchan was his usual suave and drily witty self. Asked what his advice to the youth was, Big B quipped, “I am beyond giving advice. I want the youth to give me advice.”

But pressed to answer for a young audience, he replied, “The usual advice…study hard, obey the law…. In the context of this movie, I’d say be conscious of social issues [facing us].”
A sombre Big B

Weirdly, soon after he answered this question, someone asked him the exact same question about advice. “I just answered,” Bachchan Senior responded. Indeed, he did!

As you know, Mr Bachchan reprises his role of a ghost in this movie (the sequel to Bhootnath). Most people fear ghosts, what does the superstar fear? “Right now, I fear this question!” he said. But then he got serious, explaining that as an artist he feared “not living up to people’s expectations.”

Boman Irani, who plays a politician in Bhootnath Returns, was asked what he thought of Bollywood movies these days. The talented actor said he appreciated the fact that there were “very different voices and stamps around. It’s an exciting time to be here.”

EXCLUSIVE! Aishwarya Rai Bachchan & Katrina Kaif Dine Together at Zuma, Abu Dhabi

Jun 27, 2014 0

For a long time they were pitted against one another primarily because of the ‘ex’ factor. It was said that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was pretty cold towards Katrina Kaif and the reason was the Salman Khan connection. Salman had started dating Katrina after his break-up with Aishwarya which led people to believe that the two ladies didn’t exactly see eye to eye. What fuelled the rumours about the alleged rivalry were stories about how Ash ‘ignored’ Katrina on the sets of Dhoom:3 in Chicago when the former Miss World had gone to visit hubby Abhishek Bachchan who starred in the film.

However this bit of information may come as a surprise to all rumour-mongers. According to reliable sources, Aishwarya was dining with Katrina at celeb favourite Zuma in Abu Dhabi last week!

The ‘dining’ coup took place on Saturday, May 17, 2014 just before Ash flew to Cannes. Katrina of course had been stationed in Abu Dhabi for the shoot of her upcoming action thriller with Hrithik Roshan, Bang Bang.  The two lovely ladies apparently walked in at around 10pm, accompanied by a female friend. They stayed on for over two hours at the swish restaurant. Ash and Kat spent time together, chatting and having a conversation over some delicious Zuma classics such as Tuna Tataki, some sushi and miso black cod.

It is still not clear why Aishwarya had a stop-over at Abu Dhabi before she flew to the Cannes Film Festival. Was it because of her delayed trip to France? Ash was supposed to land in Cannes on May 16, 2014 but was held back because of the air traffic controller’s strike. But Katrina’s case is even more curious. Why and how she bonded with Ash over dinner is quite a mystery!
