After winning the audience’s hearts with blockbusters like Main Hun Na and Om Shanti Om, another action-packed, romance-loaded, emotional roller coaster, musical treat is here for SRK fans! Happy New Year sees Farah Khan again taking over the director’s chair with the production handled by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment.

Stars dazzled and none shone brighter than the ones that made all the magic happen at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai when the red carpet was rolled out for the international premiere of the film that has been released across cinemas on 23 October, globally. Emotions reached an all time high as evident joy glowed on the faces of this talented lot! Even the men were seen dabbing away their happy tears as they celebrated the long and much awaited initial screening of their new film. Director, Farah Khan, could not contain her happiness as she gushed about the wonderful location and her amazingly supportive coworkers. She remarked how fitting it was that the first scene of the film was shot at this beautiful spot and now the very same place is hosting its premiere. SRK expressed his love for the city revealing he actually has his very own house here because it felt like a second home. The Dubai audience was thrilled to host this event and expressed their excitement over watching their city being the main location chosen for the shooting of this project.

The film stars Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah, Sonu Sood and Jackie Shroff as the main cast members. When asked about her sizzling dance number, Deepika promptly joked that her “Lovely” belly dancing was inspired by Boman Irani’s spontaneous dancing belly in every song! The rest of the actors said they were ecstatic to be a part of such a film and had great fun while shooting all the scenes. They were hopeful that this film would be just as successful as the previous times SRK and Farah Khan got together for a project. The cast is definitely going to have a “Happy New Year” with their film creating waves at the box office with sold out first day shows!

Did this latest venture from the dynamic duo of the quirky lovable Farah Khan and King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan, live up to the fans’ expectations? Well, the opinions are definitely going to be divided depending on everyone’s taste. This is classic Farah Khan paying tribute to Bollywood with vibrant catchy songs, a larger than life climax and a script that deliberately references her previous efforts. Everyone plays their roles well but maybe the problem is that all the actors are stars and none of them gets the screen time they deserve. The story revolves around a group of losers who attempt a gang robbery on New year’s eve under cover of a dance competition.  Humor, action, romance, thrill and beautiful Dubai locales are sure to pull in audiences. Though, if you don’t like Farah Khan’s style, this might not be your cup of tea.
